Frequently Asked Questions

How do we work together?

We start with a free consultation that involves both parent/guardian and student to understand the student’s overall needs. Over 12 weeks, we’ll have weekly 60-minute coaching calls via Zoom, where I provide personalized support tailored to your goals. We collaborate with parents and school staff as needed to ensure a comprehensive approach. You’ll also have access to guides for ongoing support and self-coaching. All sessions are confidential and focused on your well-being.

What are the most common areas teens struggle with?

Anxiety: Feeling overwhelmed by stress or worry.

Motivation: Struggling to find drive or enthusiasm for tasks and goals.

Confidence: Dealing with low self-esteem and self-doubt.

Time Management: Finding it hard to balance school, activities, and personal time.

Depression: Experiencing persistent sadness or loss of interest in activities. See the FAQ below on the difference between therapy and coaching for more information.

What kind of process do you use?

As a certified life coach, we use a proven process called The Model, developed by Brooke Castillo, founder of The Life Coach School, which has successfully helped thousands of students. This approach begins with identifying circumstances that trigger thoughts. These thoughts then create feelings, which drive actions, ultimately leading to the results experienced. Rather than simply treating symptoms, The Model addresses the root causes of challenges in an empowering way by focusing on what an individual can control— thoughts, feelings, and actions—to create lasting, effective change.

What kind of teens benefit from your coaching?

Some students are high achievers, while others are struggling in multiple areas. Our coaching methods give students of all types the tools to help them improve.

How do we get started?

We are happy to begin with a consultation involving both parents and the teen to discuss the challenges you want to address and to see if we’re a good fit for working together.

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy and coaching both aim to help people reach their goals but approach this in different ways. Therapy is similar to a doctor treating a past injury—it focuses on healing and addressing issues from the past that might be holding the person back. Coaching, on the other hand, is more like a personal trainer helping build strength and reach your full potential—it focuses on the present and future, providing tools, accountability, and support to elevate your performance and achieve your goals. While therapists work to bring you to a healthy baseline, coaches help you grow beyond that baseline.
